I've never claimed to have much artistic talent, but my excuse for the monstrosity below is that I'm left-handed and I mouse right-handedly.

drawing personality

What does your drawing say about YOU?

My analysis:

-You tend to pursue many different activities simultaneously. When misfortune does happen, it doesn't actually dishearten you all that much.

-You are a thoughtful and cautious person. You like to think about your method, seeking to pursue your goal in the most effective way.

-You like following the rules and being objective. You are precise and meticulous, and like to evaluate decisions before making them.

-You have a sunny, cheerful disposition.

B is for...

[livejournal.com profile] mireille719 gave me the letter B:

1 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The show that got me here in the first place. I can't really say it was my first fandom - I think the Monkees can claim that dubious honour - but it was certainly my first public one.

2 - Bourne & Kraatz. Because 'figure skating' starts with an F. Actually, now that I think about it, figure skating was my first public fandom - I was on a figure skating mailing list in the 1990s and a whole bunch of us met up at the World Championships in Edmonton in 1996. There's probably even figure skating fanfic out there somewhere, but I'm afraid to look for it.

3 - Blue, Hands of. Because Firefly also starts with an F. ([livejournal.com profile] mireille719, you gave me the wrong letter!) My Whedon-love knows no bounds.

4 - Beluga. The whale, not the caviar. They're so cute. And they're my favourite whale.

5 - Blood type. I'm A+. I first learned this in a Grade 11 physiology course (Hi P!). That evening, I went home and asked my parents what types they were to see if I was illegitimate. :-)

6 - Bug. Several years ago, my aunt decided that everyone in my family should have a totem. My mother had collected turtle figurines for years and a friend of the family liked to give frog-related paraphernalia to my uncle because she said he looked like one. ::snerk:: I was assigned ladybugs.

7 - Book. Couldn't live without books. Also, Shepherd.

8 - Beaver. Canada's national symbol. They couldn't have chosen an animal that's a not a rodent?

9 - Bilabial plosive, voiced. Wikipedia says that that's what the letter B is in English.

10 - Bra cup size. B, as it happens, is mine. (What is this cleavage thing you speak of?)

Anyone want a letter? Or am I the last person on LJ to do this meme?

Ten ways to know you're reading a [livejournal.com profile] desoto_hia873 fic:

1. You can't see it. It's not there because I haven't written it yet, so it exists only inside my head.
2. It's probably 100 words long.
3. It's genfic and smutless.
4. It doesn't deviate very far from canon.
5. Despite my username, there's no guarantee that Spike will actually be in it.
6. It stars a very minor character.
7. There's a reasonable chance that the minor character is Marcie.
8. The last paragraph is a one-liner.
9. If it got an avalanche of comments, it's bad!fic.
10. Did I mention the complete lack of smut?

I feel a bit silly doing this, given the few fics longer than 100 words that I've actually written, but what the heck...

My favorite story (of my own): All Set Down, I think. It's certainly not perfect (I wish I'd done a better job with the last section), and it's not really my goal always to write fics that are quite that grim, but overall I think it's alright and it's got some lines I rather like.

Story most tragically underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: I don't have a very big audience. Since I've declared All Set Down to be my favourite, I'll go with that one.

Most fun story: Fun to read or fun to write? I had alot of fun writing Unrequited and trying to fit the paragraphs to the 'code' for my sekrit valentine. At 2 am, I was running around my apartment and demanding of the dog, "What's a good U-word? What's a good U-word?? I need a word that starts with U!!!" For the record, he was entirely unhelpful.

Story with the single sexiest moment: I really don't do sex. I must be too Victorian or something - I just wind up blushing whenever I try to write it. The rare times I've ventured past a PG rating were for language or violence. ::is lily-white::

Most unintentionally telling story: I don't think any of my fics are particuarly revealing about me. I definitely don't have some strange obsession with vanilla chapstick. :-)

"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for me" story: As part of [livejournal.com profile] jedi_penguin's Bad!fic Mockathon, we had to mock the story that was written for us. My mock of [livejournal.com profile] theohara's That's What It's All About is, um, a little rude. Ryan Seacrest still isn't speaking to me.

Hardest story to write: I sweat blood for all of them, which could explain my tendency towards anaemia. Probably Pier Group threw me into the biggest panic of "YOU CAN'T DO THIS!!!!", because it was the first.

Worst story: Again, probably Pier Group. It's OK, but it's not deep and it's a little forced. It was my first shot at fanfic. ::shrugs::

Easiest story to write: Without question, my bad!fic Bell of the Ball. It was ridiculously easy to write and I'm just refusing to think about the implications of that. Choosing from my real fics, I'd say Waiting For You. It took me nearly an entire workday (yes, when I was supposed to be working!) to do, but I was kinda on a roll and by 5 pm it was pretty much in its final form.

Story I'd like to revise (but probably won't): I think I'd rather finish something new than start revising.

Story I wish I'd finished: A multi-chaptered WIP that no one except me has ever seen. It's set in BtVS S2 and stars ev0l!Spike, a (sort of) original character, Maggie Walsh, and, eventually, Angelus. It was meant to be a backstory weaving behind the canon plot that we saw on TV. I managed to write two chapters and an outline for the rest, but then kind of stalled out. Also, a couple of other writers seem to be tackling similar premises and I don't want to seem like I copied them.

Story I didn't write but swear I will, someday: An apocalypfic. I know the setting and the Big Bad, have a vague idea of the ending, but that whole middle section is MIA.

It seems to be on my mind.

What's the difference between love and being 'in love'?

I heard something on the radio last night that's got me to thinking:

Is love a decision?

What do you think?
