So, if you're Italian, you say Torino rather than Turin, right?

I don't know why city and country names change depending on what language you speak. I think the people who live there should get to choose the name and everyone else should say it like they do.

This might be the dumbest question ever, but I've always wondered - why do we call Germany Germany if Germans call it Deutschland?? What am I missing here? AM I CRAZY?

You might be crazy, but not for wondering that. :-P

In non-answer to your question, I have no idea! I've always wondered why citizens of the U.S. are Americans when - hello - Canadians and Mexicans live in North America too.

And while I'm on a tangent, why do almost all continent names begin and end with 'a'?

MYSTERIES OF THE UNIVERSE.

Also, why did it take me a good year before I realized my laundry bag has a zipper along the bottom for easy removal of dirty clothes? Heh. Why God, WHY??

I have wondered that for a dang. long. time. When I covered website suffixes with me class and .de stood for Germany, they were extremely puzzled.

I collected stamps when I was a kid - sometimes it was hard figuring just which country they were from.

English is weird.
