A World Without Spike

Imagine, if you will, a world without Spike. Or, at least, the Buffyverse without Spike. What would the world have looked like post-BtVS if Spike and Dru had never come to Sunnydale? I guess Kendra would still be alive or have been killed by a different vampire. The Anointed One would have gotten older, if not taller. Cordelia wouldn't have had a rebar go through her torso and might not have dumped Xander.

A world without Faith the Vampire Slayer is not a world I want to know about. :) Apart from anything else, it would mean that Mayor Wilkins would lack the human weakness that ultimately doomed him... and that in Angel S4, Angelus would remain unsouled.

Spike's main role in 'Becoming' was to neutralise Drusilla as a factor in the big battle - so if neither of them were there, it would still be Angelus v Buffy much the same as in canon.

I don't even have to see Nekkid James, but a world without him would be a far less shiny place.

1.Buffy would have burned up from Sweet's spell.

2. The First would have won in 2003

3. Dawn might have died, causing an apocalypse

4. Buffy might be in jail after confessing to Katrina's death.

I've thought of all the ones already mentioned... but if you go even further to a world completely without Spike? Then there would have been no souled Angel to stalk help a very young Buffy Summers. The head of the gypsies was willing to remove the curse on Angelus, until he saw that Spike had helped himself to the gypsy family buffet.

Have to think about this a bit more...

I once rewrote "Tabula Rasa" without Spike. I really enjoyed figuring out what would HAVE to be different, and which things would happen no matter what. Of course, I always love AUs of every kind.

Life would have been much more black & white and not filled with these lovely or shiny or FUN or muted or HOT or touching or AMUSING or tortuous or LOVE-FILLED or heart-breaking or SMOLDERING or DEEPLY MOVING shades of gray. Both Buffy and I would have been devastated, actually, but it would have taken her _YEEEAAAARRRS_ longer than me to realize it.
