The Rossiter File

Coming - well, someday - to a bookstore near you. Or possibly not so near to you. At any rate, this is the cover to my father's second murder mystery. It was supposed to be out last month but his publisher is a little behind schedule.

(And, yes, I beta-ed for him. :-)

I just went on Amazon.com and looked up Thomas Rendell Curran and got a listing for "Undertow." And lower on the page, it said:

Customers interested in Undertow may also be interested in

For 55 Gallon Tanks Fish -- at PETCO

Amazon can be so random at time, ya know?

That is very strange - hee!

Yes, Undertow was his first book - the achievement of his lifelong desire to write a mystery novel. He was over the moon when someone agreed to publish it.

Oh, congrats!! My FIL is a HUGE fan of the genre. Guess I know what to get him, huh?

I read alot of mysteries too and this one's pretty good. And since it's his second book, he's now the author of a bonafide series. :-) I think he gets a big kick out of that.

That is very cool! And it's a nice cover -- I like the design. I bet your dad's happy with it.

Yes, he likes this one. The first cover they came up with was not nearly so nice - he said a very definite no to it. It's a good thing he works with a relatively small publisher - I think the big publishing houses don't care very much about what the authors thinks about that sort of thing.

They wanted a picture of him on the back of his first book, so I went to his house one day and took a bunch of photos of him with his very cheap red plastic camera. They used one of them and gave me a photo credit, which amuses me greatly. :-)

Ooh, very atmospheric cover. Has your dad got a 3rd planned too?

[identity profile] desoto-hia873.livejournal.com 2005-05-12 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Ya, I thought the cover came out rather well. They've used the same font as for his first book, so they'll look like a series.

Dad has started the third book, but hasn't made much headway with it. It takes him about two years to get one done - well, probably longer than that for the first one. He generally gets about half of it written and then throws his hands up in desperation and starts over. He's getting close to that throwing-hands-up phase now. :-)

Woo! Yay for your dad! It's not listed at the UK amazon, but I checked the US one and doesn't he have some nice reviews!

Does he? I've never looked him up on Amazon. Must go see...
