Ten Things Meme
Feb. 23rd, 2005 02:47 pmTen things I've done that people on my flist probably haven't:
1. Sat on and fallen off of a dead humpback whale into the waters of the north Atlantic. Twice. ( Photographic evidence under the cut. )
2. Gone all fangirl squee-y at a Monkees concert.
3. Eaten sushi so fresh that it was carved from the tuna with a Swiss army knife.
4. Read the diary of a woman who recorded the sinking of the Titanic.
5. Spent a month on an offshore fisheries research vessel. Made it through two storms with 30 foot waves without getting seasick.
6. Rescued a vole from the neighbour's cat. Took it into a wildlife centre where it was diagnosed as having a broken leg and administered antibiotics (to prevent sepsis) by mouth twice daily for two weeks before releasing it.
7. Included Coach Reeves from the 70s TV show The White Shadow in my MSc thesis acknowledgements.
8. Was asked for ID before entering a pub when I was 28 years old. I was also asked if I was the daughter of a 22 year old friend that same year. I'm frequently assumed to be younger than my little sister (I’m nearly six years older than she is). She used to think this was funny when we were teenagers. Now that I'm 41 and she's 35, not so much.
9. Watched a meteor (falling star) so bright that I could see the vapour trail behind it and it woke up birds in nearby trees.
10. Watched the sun rise at Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America.
