Nikita has to be setting records for the slowest pace that a TV show has come out on DVD ever. The series ended its five year run in 2001, but didn't release its first season until 2003. The second season was released about a year later, but was immediately pulled from the market because of music licensing issues. It took almost another year for the S2 reissue to come out. The third season came out relatively quickly after that, but we've since been stalled out for another year. The release date for Season 4 has
finally been
tentatively announced as July 25, 2006. It'll probably take at least another year after that to get Season 5, which I've never seen because it was aired so very piecemeal that I kept missing it. ::tears hair out::
Interestingly,
Nikita was a show that was saved by fan support. It was cancelled at the end of S4 and all of the characters arcs were left hanging unresolved. A fierce letter writing campaign revived it and a half-season's worth of episodes was shot to bring the show to a proper close.
Wouldn't it have been nice if that had worked for
Angel?
