WriterCon Question of the Hour

To laptop or not to laptop: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The pains and achings of lugging it around,
Or to take arms against...

Er, scratch that. I have to get on a plane and cross a border on Thursday--better not mention taking arms against anything.

Should I bring it?

Personally, I never go anywhere without my laptop. :-) Being in a hotel without my laptop would be like.... not bringing my nightgown or toothbrush.

It's not so hard to get a laptop through security at an airport these days. Just be ready to pull it out of the case and send it through the X-Ray machine by itself. They don't generally ask you to turn it on anymore.

Also, just random advice (if you don't fly that often), wear slip-on shoes that you can step out of easily. Nowadays, you'll see half the people on any plane wearing shower clogs or flip-flops. It speeds everything up if you don't have to sit down an tie your shoes after going through security. :-)

Hee--I'm glad I'm not the only one who is surgically attached to her laptop. :-)

I had dinner with my father tonight and he mentioned the shoe thing, too. Birkenstocks it is. It's too hot right now to wear anything else anyway.
