The Inside

I read this article on The Inside yesterday and it sounded pretty cool. Lots of ex-BtVS and AtS players involved, plus Adam Baldwin as one of the stars. I watched the first episode tonight.
Well, Herc (author of the article) wasn't wrong when he said it was very Silence of the Lambs-ish. Yeep. I don't think I've ever seen gory shots quite like those ones on a TV show. I thought it was pretty good overall. I can't say that I'm in love with it, but I'll keep watching and see if it grows on me.
It's funny seeing Jayne with longer and carefully combed and parted hair. :-)
Herc's article said that an early script had the serial killer lead the investigators to an abandoned L.A. hotel - the Hyperion. That would have been pretty cool. There is, however, another Angel reference later in the show. Herc has it invisotext at the bottom of his article: Who does the security guy work for? Does his patch say ... "Wolfram Security"??
Why, yes. Yes, it does. Neat! (You get a good shot of the patch when Simon is talking to Rebecca on the train.)
Herc also said: In a later episode, there's a very obvious homage to the best-ever episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" - even though Minear never worked on "Buffy." And "Chinatown" fans will appreciate that Webster's VCU is headquarted in the Hollis Mulwray Federal Building.
I've never seen Chinatown but I'll be looking for the Buffy homage. Perhaps the FBI agents will spontaneously break into song?
