Nathan Fillion turned 35 years old a couple of days ago (he's such a kitten); for a birthday present, he's asked that all Browncoats go to see his new film Slither.

It's a horror movie. I am so bad at horror movies. I've seen exactly 15 seconds of Jaws because I read the book and knew what was going to happen next. I watched The Exorcist from behind the television. I watched An American Werewolf in London from around the corner in another room. And I refused to watch Poltergeist altogether because my father wouldn't tell me what the steak was going to do.

It's not the gore that gets to me - it's the suspense. If I hadn't been holding the arms of my theatre seat in a deathgrip, I would have bolted out of the cinema within the first 15 minutes of Platoon. (I'm terrible at war movies too. I saw Saving Private Ryan out of a sense of duty because my grandfather fought in WWI and survived, and because my great uncle also fought and didn't. But I ain't watching no more because I just can't deal.)

Nevertheless, I'm going to see Slither on Saturday with my fellow Ottawa Browncoats. I'll be the one peeping intermittently at the screen from under her seat.

Just for Nathan I'll go see it. Toronto area Browncoats are going Saturday too. But I'll have to watch it between my closing my eyes and burying my head in my Hubby's shoulder. Suspense I can do, gore and campy horron I cannot.

I am so very much a coward. And I get so tense! Watching me may be as entertaining as watching the actual film. :-)

A review of it linked from Whedonesque was full of praise, especially for NF - reckoned he ought to make it huuuuge.

I just started watching Firefly - don't tell anyone, but I LOVE it! Off in search of icons now.

I owe you email - do you see how I lose at email? Sigh :(

You expect me to be able to keep that a secret??

HEY, EVERYONE! ::points at you:: FRIMFRAM LOVES FIREFLY!!!

:-D

It gets even better when you watch it a second time. I'm on my fourth trip through it in about a year.

Noooo! They're awesome! The AU-post-Grave one especially - that could get fascinating.

They all stump me a bit because of my profound inability to write (a)Scoobies or (b)during the canon timeframe, but you could do fabulous stuff with them.

Only if 'awesome' is another way of saying 'needs a cane'. Or possibly two canes. :-)

Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal.

There! I quoted a non-Boreanaz-featuring show! Did I do it right? :D

No power in the 'verse can stop me. Also? I can kill you with my brain. Ph3ar me.

Nathan Fillion auditioned for the role of Angel, so I think it's OK for you to quote Firefly. :-)
