Who Has Seen The Wind?

On my way to a choir executive meeting last night, I stopped at a gas station to get, y'know, gas. It was extremely windy and near the end of my debit-card-in-the-pump routine, my gas cap blew away. I had to chase it across the parking lot before it blew out onto the road. Apparently, my debit card transaction timed out while I was in hot pursuit and I didn't notice. I filled up my tank and went on my merry way.
I got home last night to a panicked message from my bank saying that there had been possible fraudulent activity involving my debit card and I was to go to a branch and get a new one as soon as possibleOMG! This morning, I had a phone call from the police informing me that I was guilty of 'gas drive-away' or, essentially, theft. Urk.
So, word to the wise: make sure your transaction goes through before leaving the gas station.
Off now to pay for said tank of gas and to calm my bank down.
