The Writercon organizers requested that I read an excerpt from either Evanesco (Lorne!fic) or All Set Down (Giles!fic).

Er, any opinions on which one--and which part--I should choose?

Ooh! I adore "All Set Down" and think it would make a wonderful read-aloud contender. It gives me chills, and I didn't realize it was yours; I read it a while back and can't remember if I offered feedback at the time. If not, sorry I'm late in telling you how fabulous it was.

Aw, thanks! I'm just flabbergasted that I was asked to do this. I've written so few fics and none of them very long. Do you suppose I should work on my English accent to read that one? :-)

But, if you'll forgive the incredibly dry old cliche, it's quality that matters, not quantity. And quality, you've got! LOL, I think you must work on your English accent for the reading. If only because I have an odd sense of humor. :P

I just tried reading Evanesco aloud--it clocked in two minutes too long (I'm only being given five minutes to read). I might be able to shorten it, but but--Eve SINGS near the end! Erk.

OTOH, All Set Down flips back and forth between past and present and might be confusing to listen to.

Don't be ashamed for chickening out--I nearly did too. Part of me still wants to run away. Really, really fast.

I'd pretty much have to cut Evanesco in half to make it short enough. The whole point of that fic is the ending, of course, but the ending needs the beginning to set it up. So I think I might go with All Set Down.
