If you like dark humour and don't mind a certain amount of gore, Dexter is all kinds of awesome. I bought the Season 1 DVDs a couple of weeks ago and watched the second-last episode last night. I can't wait to see how it all unfolds in the finale tonight.

I'm really impressed by Michael C. Hall as an actor. He's gone from playing a slightly neurotic, gay funeral home director to a straight forensics expert by day, "good" serial killer by night, and he's equally comfortable in both roles. Also, he has Darla (Julie Benz) as a girlfriend.

"I can't kill Meridian yet. I need another therapy session."

CBS is running the first Season right now with cuts and I'm enjoying it. And yeah, I know I could get my hands on the dvds but knowing me I'd never get around to watching them.

I enjoyed the books as well - the first two anyway - the third one not so much.

I started trying to tape it, but I kept getting the channel or time wrong and wound up with something else. So I just broke down and bought it. I haven't read the books--do they have a different plot than the series?

The setting and characters are the same but they move in different directions. For example, one of the book characters is murdered in the first book but survives on the series.

Like I said, the first two books are hilarious but I really didn't care for the third one.

The books are light entertainment, not up to the standard of the show. How often can you say that?

Huh. Practically never! I think my father liked the Brideshead, Revisited miniseries more than the book. I never read the book, but it still amazes me that a novella turned into a 12+ hour mini-series!

Oh, I loved Dexter! They showed it over here last year. The finale is fabulous, and I'm really looking forward to S2. I never watched Six Feet Under so had no prior knowledge of the actor, but I thought he absolutely sold the role. He always stays sympathetic, but always slightly disturbing, too. I loved Dex, but I'm not entirely sure I'd want to hang out with him :-)

Julie Benz was also excellent. I really wanted a crossover where the abusive ex turned up and found Darla instead of Rita...

Oh, I loved Dexter!

Yet more evidence that we were separated at birth. :-)

You should definitely watch Six Feet Under if you get the chance. It's an absolutely excellent series--I'd put it in my top 5 all-time favourites. It goes through a bit of a slump in parts of S2, but the rest is addictive. And it has possibly the best series finale ever.

Arkaroo keeps trying to get me to watch that using the sales pitch "I know you like pretty serial killers..."

Heee. It is an awfully good series--listen to Arkaroo!

If you loved S1, then you'll want to run to the store the day S2 is released. It's even better than S1. Right now I am anxiously awaiting S3 to start this fall. It's one of my absolute favorite shows and MCH is an amazing actor. He really deserved the Emmy this year. Hopefully next year they get it right and give him one.

Why isn't S2 out yet?!? There isn't even any news about its release on tvshowsondvd.com (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com). I'm attempting to download S2 on my computer now--which may cause my hard drive to explode.

I've heard that it'll be released in August. A few weeks prior to the season 3 premiere. I have all of S2 downloaded (since I don't have Showtime either) and if you are patient with the dl, it'll be well worth it!

I recently watched S1 and S2 in a big rush. I'm still reeling. It's just brilliant in every way, and I can't stop thinking about the characters. I find myself having conversations with them in my head. I've even dreamed about them. Season One was all kinds of awesome, but Season Two left Season One in the dust. So brilliant.

I just can't imagine what S2 has in store that would leave S1 in the dust, but I'm sure looking forward to finding out!

Have you seen Six Feet Under? Also all kinds of awesome. Michael C. Hall sure knows how to pick 'em.

I haven't seen it yet, but it's on my Netflix cue.

That one line made me laugh out loud, which I don't often do when watching TV. Brilliant.

"Shrink Wrap" is one of the best TV episodes I've ever seen. Also, S2 as a whole is better than S1.

That's what people keep telling me. My mind boggles--S1 didn't have a single weak point. I'm currently downloading S2--it may take a week to get it, but I will get it! (And probably buy the DVDs when they come out, too.)
