In WordPerfect 6.0 (told you this was obscure), when I save a file as an ASCII DOS text file, the filename is always ALLCAPS. It's annoying. Does anyone know how to change this? Or if it's even possible?

I just asked my resident WordPerfect expert (he worked for them for six years... first in Support and then in Testing) and he says that he's fairly sure there's no way to change it. It has to do with the version of DOS that was out when that version of WP was produced...

I'll ask him again in the morning, just to double-check, and maybe have him reply here as well if he has anything to add. I'm afraid we just spent most of the day driving or running around National Parks in southern Utah, so we're both pretty exhausted.

FWIW, I'm still using WP 8.0 as my default word processor... I'm totally addicted to having access to the Reveal Codes feature (the thing that is almost single-handedly responsible for me being able to catch on immediately to HTML coding, back in the day) and the subdivide page feature. Neither of which exist in any other word processor, that I've found.

I totally agree with you on the Reveal Codes thing. WordPerfect is light years ahead of Word for that very reason. Unfortunately, my workplace is dedicated to Word and so I've gotten used to using it. *sigh*

This is somewhat embarrassing to admit, but I use WordPerfect 6.0 to do webpage stuff because it's a DOS program and will therefore open ASCII files as ASCII files and won't automatically make them look like webpages. Which is to say that I do my homepages in WordPerfect 6.0 - which is about a Neanderthal a way as you can get. But I like to see my coding and Notepad screws things up sometimes. So I do it the hard way. If I'd been clever enough to use all caps in my coding, it would have made my life easier, but going back and renaming all the files using all caps would be a major pain.

Looks like I'll just have to keep renaming the files to change cases until I come across something better. Any suggestions for what something better might be?

Thanks for checking!
