I've been rewatching BtVS from the start (again) with Significant Other (because he's never seen it and I have turned him into a Buffy fan - yay!). It's been going rather slowly as he lives in another city and we usually see each other only every other weekend - we've made it about one-third of the way through the second season so far. Having seen all these episodes many times before and being much more aware of fanfic than I used to be, I frequently get "What If?" questions running through my head.
One of the episodes we watched this past weekend was The Dark Age. And so I wondered: What if Willow hadn't thought of using Angel to get Eyghon out of Jenny's body or if Angel hadn't gotten there in time? Suppose circumstances had arranged themselves such that the demon Eyghon was in danger in Jenny's body, Buffy was unconscious, and Eyghon had jumped into Buffy's body to save itself. Given the events of Season 7 where it was revealed that the source of Slayer power was demonic in origin, what would have happened? Would Buffy's 'demon' have beaten the crap out of Eyghon like Angel's did? And wouldn't *that* have thrown everyone for a loop?!
I know, I should have written a story. But I seem to be more into the reading than the writing these days, so I figured that wasn't going to happen any time soon. So I'm just throwing the thought out there.
