WriterCon Badges

What are people using as their badge name on WriterCon badges? LJ usernames? Does your real name go on there too? I want to register, but I'm not sure what to put on my badge.
ETA: I followed
poshcat's advice and went with my username. Look for the short redhead with the chest that reads DeSoto_HIA873. :-)
My father came through his surgery fine. He was in recovery for a long time as they gave him a spinal and it took several hours for him to regain feeling below his waist. The surgeon said it all went very well and he'll likely be released from hospital later today or tomorrow. My sister and I will be on babysitting duty after he gets home until we figure out how much mobility he has.
Next up: My poor uncle, who is having one of his kidneys removed next week (gulp).

Hey - you must visit your relatives in Peterborough sometime! Sekrit news: I'm considering moving there.

Date: 2006-02-05 07:32 am (UTC)He would LOVE to live there again, and I'm not totally against the idea, although it would be hard to start all over again, especially now that the girls are a bit older. But his family all live in the area, and they are the most passive-aggressive people you'd ever want to meet. As far as I can see, they can't stand each other, but still get together all the time and pretend to like each other. Gah!
But it sure would be cool to live in the same town as you!!!!!!!!! How serious are YOU about going there?

Date: 2006-02-07 02:52 am (UTC)I'm getting there. Serious, that is. I've applied for a faculty position at Trent (I doubt that I'll get it, but hoping nevertheless) and am going to make inquiries at various other places. Jim and his kids live in Peterborough and it's become apparent that one of us has to move if we're going to keep this relationship going. That three hour drive is getting boring.
It's not an easy decision. I don't have kids of my own to worry about, but his family situation is complicated and messy - his kids are still getting over their parents' separation and their mother is not behaving at all like a responsible mother should. I don't want to add more upset to their lives. He'd like me to move into his house, but it's very small and I think that a place of my own, at least to start, would be a better idea.
Anyway, we'll see how the job hunt goes.

Date: 2006-02-10 06:06 pm (UTC)I think Jim would be disappointed if I got my own place, but his kids have been through a very difficult time (honestly, their mother? ::shudders::) and that matters more. For the record, I had nothing to do with the marriage breaking up. The ex took care of that her own self.
Don't worry about it not being any of your business! You have kids - that alone makes you far more qualified than me when it comes to talking about these things. I have a dog. I should have put my uterus up for rent years ago - it's not like I'm using it for anything. :-)
Jim is 45. I have a couple of other friends in Peterborough who are both older and younger than that - how old is Mr. Posh? It would be too funny if any of them knew each other!

Date: 2006-01-25 09:19 pm (UTC)YIPPIE!
Look for a medium height, chemically-induced streaked blonde, with Usige Beatha on her chest (and, more than likely, in a flask in her purse).
