In case anyone was wondering what the house looked like--here are the pics from the real estate agent's website. The furniture in them belongs to the sellers, of course.
Exterior
This is the side and back of the house--looks pretty in the snow, doesn't it? The front has a both an enclosed garage and a carport. The property is not quite half an acre big, so lots of room. The little gazebo-y thing next to the tree houses the pump from the original well (no longer used, of course, but it looks neat).
Master Bedroom
This is my cave. Note the leaded glass windows behind the bed. The patio doors to the left lead outside to a deck near the pool.
Living Room 1
One view of the living room. That's a fireplace between the rocking chair and the TV stand. The dog's name is Hamish, but he doesn't come with the house. :-(
Living Room 2
The living room when you look the other way.
Dining Room
The dining room. The little window on the right is a pass-through to the kitchen. The current owner has made leaded glass inserts that can be pulled open and closed.
Kitchen
The kitchen isn't huge. I may have to look for a nice, big antique pantry to increase the cabinet space. Not much of a chore--I love shopping for antiques.
Downstairs Bathroom
The downstairs bathroom. Very elegant!
Big Bedroom
The big upstairs bedroom. All three kids are gonna be fighting over who gets this one--it's huge.
Pool
Backyard with pool. The two trees on the far side of the pool are enormous--they must be at least 50 years old, if not more. Yes, there will be a hammock. :-)
Very nice! Like the split rail fence outside, great looking wood floors, nice beadwork touches, good looking kitchen cabinets, lots of windows. Looks like a winner to me.
Beautiful place! Too bad Hamish doesn't come with it. :-) (Though, I'm sure he'll be relieved to know he's staying with his family.) I'm sure you'll have a grand time furnishing it and settling in.
Thanks! I hope so too. I didn't especially want a pool, but it'll be fun to have. And the boys will be thrilled when we give them the news tomorrow--it's fun to see them so excited.
OMG I'm so sorry I didn't comment on your Big Decision before now! I thought about you a lot, and how relieved you must be that you decided to do exactly what I thought was best for you. :0P
That is one fantabulous house. Beautiful and big, and what a lot!!! Huge by any measure. And loads of windows and light. \o/ I think you're all going to be very happy there. Although living with others requires an adjustment...it's pretty nice, too.
And now we can stay with YOU instead of the in-laws when we visit. Yipee! Heh, just kidding. Except I'm not. xoxo
Well, it is a five-bedroom house and Jim only has the kids every other week. The place is big enough that he probably wouldn't even know you were there. :-)
Oh! It also has a wine cellar and a sauna that may or may not still work. Now you definitely have to come visit!
Thanks! Yeah, packing--ugh! And yet a necessary evil. This'll be the third time I've moved in less than 18 months. I am SO done with moving after this.
